TCAT NW Nursing Pins
This project centered on designing an official, high-caliber seal for TCAT Northwest’s nursing pinning ceremony. The final artwork was created to serve dual purposes: as a bold, modern digital emblem for commencement materials and as a production-ready vector template for custom physical lapel pins awarded to graduating nurses.
The Challenge
Commencement pins require balancing symbolic tradition with physical manufacturing limits. Standard digital graphics often fail when translated to die-cast metal and enamel. The primary objective was to modernize traditional nursing symbols—the Lamp of Learning and laurel wreath—while establishing strict line weights, color boundaries, and contrast ratios suitable for gold and silver metallic production.
Reflection
The design delivered a timeless, polished emblem that bridged digital print needs and physical metal manufacturing. The finalized vector templates allowed the manufacturer to cast high-precision pins without graphic degradation, providing graduates with a meaningful, professional keepsake for their pinning ceremony.
