TCAT Upper Cumberland Yard Signage
For TCAT Upper Cumberland, I modernized and updated an existing "Graduated and Employed" yard sign. My goal was to transform a standard, functional design into a more colorful and impactful recruiting asset that aligned with the new TCAT Upper Cumberland logo.
The Challenge
The primary challenge was to take a standard 24"x18" print specification and create a vibrant and engaging piece while maintaining the professional tone required for institutional signage. I needed to incorporate the new TCAT Upper Cumberland logo, a light blue transparent Tri-Star pattern, and find creative ways to present the key "Graduated and Employed" message, which needed to be instantly readable from a vehicle. I also had the specific constraint of exploring multiple variations, both primarily blue and primarily red, to ensure the optimal choice.
Reflection
This project was an excellent exercise in iterative design for public-facing signage. Exploring two distinct color primaries allowed me to really push the visual impact and test different typographical hierarchies. I learned that small details, like the transparency of the Tri-Star and the specific placement of the logo, have a major impact on clarity for signage meant to be read on the move. Recreating the sign with the new identity provided a clear benefit in terms of modernizing the brand perception.
